Welcome to our blog!

Hello, www grammar experts, soon to become short story authors!

Remember to post at least once a week for the first four weeks' worth of assignments. I'm planning to read short stories and write my thoughts, as well.

I'm looking forward to reading all your observations!

Top Man

This story was written by James Ramsey Ullman.

The setting of this story is on a mountain called Kalpurtha. The story starts out introducing the main characters then continues on to tell about the beautiful mountain, where the story is to take place. "Kalpurtha: altitude 27,930 feet. Highest peak in the Garhwal Himalayas and probably fourth highest in the world. Also known as K3. A tertiary formation of sedimentary limestone..." This spectacular mountain is described as a white-hooded giant , secret and remote, but living. The story describes the struggle of the climbers as they seek to find a way to reach the top. But the mountain will not be easily conquered, first they must wait out a long snow storm bringing 12 feet of snow. The snow has to refreeze before they can continue their ascent up the mountain. After waiting many days, they are able to continue on. Would they ever reach the top of this unpredictable mountain?
